Ruth VanDemark has been pastor of Wicker Park Lutheran Church since October 1, 1999. A 1966 graduate of Vassar College, she received a Masters of Theological Studies degree in New Testament Studies from Harvard Divinity School in 1969. In 1976, she graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law and began the practice of law in Chicago in December of that year with a Chicago law firm. Dr. James Werner (Jim), 70, of Haymarket, died December 2, 2014. He was born to the late Linus and Thelma Werner on June 3, 1944, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jim graduated from Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1970. He married Susan Bisbee in 1971 in Evanston, Illinois. Following two years of active duty as a physician in the U.S. Army at Fort Eustis, he and Susan settled in the Manassas area in 1974.
As a primary care physician, Jim cared passionately for the well-being of his patients. At the time he began working in Manassas, there were only seven medical physicians practicing in the area. As such, he treated a wide variety of medical condition...
