Tell us about yourself: After graduation, I attended a couple years at Augustana College. Moved to Minneapolis and worked at the Target Buying Office. Met my husband Bob while dancing at the Burnsville Bowl! We married in 1972 and lived in Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Rockford, Ill., back to Minneapolis for 8 years then to Los Angeles for 18 years. During that time I was a secretary, administrative assistant and executive secretary. My husband retired after 39-1/2 years of government service, mostly air traffic control specialist, and we moved back to Minneapolis in 2002. We are both retired but do enjoy his hobby, and it's become mine too, car racing. Since we met in 1971 we have been to many kinds of car races from Formula 1 to NASCAR. We have owned a Vintage Formula Vee Zinc C4, which he races in WI, MI, MN, OK, KS., for several years now. It's a lot of fun and it's cute! We have had many cool cats during our marriage and they have all said they'd like to come back as a "Hanneman cat". I also like to do needlework like Counted Cross Stitch work and read lots of books! Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. |

From the Deep South, Hi, y’awl. Although far removed from Sioux Falls and living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the past 40 years, I last returned to enjoy one snow storm following another in January last year when my mother-in-law was hospitalized. The weather was off-putting; the people were wonderfully welcoming and caring, reaffirming what a privilege it was to have grown up in Sioux Falls! My journey from Sioux Falls began with college at Gustavus Adolphus and marriage to fellow Gustavian John Harbo following graduation. From there to Michigan Tech and Cornell University for his graduate work in entomology, specifically honey bee breeding. My impression when he accepted a position at the USDA Honey Bee research laboratory in Baton Rouge? We’re going to the ends of the earth! It has proven to be much better than that. We lived walking distance from Louisiana State University where I graduated with an MBA . Eventually I opened an advertising agency. We have two daughters and one granddaughter age 7. Upon John’s retirement we started Harbo Bee Company which focuses on breeding and selling mite resistant breeding stock to queen suppliers in the U.S. and recently abroad (harbobeeco.com). Yes, I do work in the apiary and I do get stung occasionally. In season we bottle and sell raw honey at the large, local farmer’s market. We had planned to attend the reunion but in early August I cracked my femur and am ambulatory, but hobbled, right now. This BUZZ BOOK is wonderful. Thank you, reunion crew! It has been a joy reading about our classmates. I hope if you come this way you will give me a call. |
