LYNNE HEILBUTH

1944-08-11 2022-03-18
Lynne Heilbuth, August 11, 1944 – March 18, 2022, died at her home after a valiant struggle with cancer, in comfort and dignity, according to her wishes.  She is survived by her twin brother Don Heilbuth, his wife Kelli, their two children Christian and Alex of Sioux City, Iowa, and nephew Steve Heilbuth and his wife Emily Anderson of Chicago, Illinois.

Lynne received her doctorate in adapted physical education from Texas Women’s University.  She was an extraordinary special education teacher who had a positive, enduring impact on the thousands of kids she taught during her 46-year career.  She had the ability and determination to adapt to their individual learning style to provide them the best opportunity to feel successful.  She started the first special education program for Diné/Navajo at Tsaile Elementary School where she taught for two years.  She volunteered and was involved with Special Olympics for many years in Texas and other states.

Lynne was an evolved soul who walked a sacred spiritual path, elevating her area of the world into one of more Light and Source alignment.  In her presence you felt elevated, seen and loved.  Lynne was never encumbered by the usual trappings of human life.  For her it was never about money, stuff and personal recognition, but about living her life with purpose and in service, which she did beautifully.

Lynne was a seeker and an adventurer.  She loved the outdoors including hiking, camping, tennis and traveling.  She was a lifelong learner, always pursuing creative, spiritual and intellectual growth.

Lynne was the physical manifestation of love.  Her friends and family meant the world to Lynne and she always took time to nurture those important relationships.  Without a doubt, her legacy of love, kindness and generosity will live beyond time and space.
