1944-06-09 2023-06-06Diane M. Eggebraaten, 78, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Avera Dougherty Hospice, Sioux Falls, SD.
The family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 14, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Private Family Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of donations to the Dougherty House in Diane's name.
Diane Mae Kindler, daughter of Henry and Lorraine (Klein) Kindler, was born June 9, 1944 in St. Paul, MN. She began her education in St. Paul, MN and then in Chillicothe, OH. The family moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1960 and she graduated from Washington High School in 1962. She attended University of South Dakota and University of Sioux Falls for a short time.
Diane was united in marriage with Loren Eggebraaten on February 25 1967, in Sioux Falls, SD. They moved to Napa, CA where Loren worked in retail. In two years, they returned to Sioux Falls, SD. They were blessed with two children, Steven and Michael.
Diane loved being a mother and homemaker for her family. She was involved with her sons in Cub Scouts, and taking her boys to all their other activities. Diane loved all the activities for her grandchildren as they grew up. She enjoyed making them special baked treats.
She was very community minded and had volunteered for the Minnehaha County Republican Party where she had served as vice chair for a couple years. She worked various political campaigns. Her favorite was with Senator James Abdnor.
Diane was very active with her husband, Loren, in the El Riad Shrine as he made his way through the chairs to become the Potentate in 1980. She loved working the circus each year.
When she was in high school, she went to the Florida Keys with her parents. She has gone there every year since. She and Loren enjoyed the friends they made over the years and the beauty of the Florida Keys.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 56 years, Loren, Sioux Falls, SD; and sons, Steve (Michelle) Eggebraaten, and their children, Ashlee (Daniel) Massey, Hank Eggebraaten,; and a son, Mike Eggebraaten and his children, Noah and Kate Eggebraaten; her sister, Kathy Daniels; two nieces, Colleen (Pete) Kenny and Celeste Kindler; a nephew, Chris Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Jim Kindler.
