Edmund Berven, (aka Eddie Hudson on radio), left us, surrounded by his daughter and friends June 16, 2023, from natural causes.

Eddie, born in 1944, was the oldest of 6 children born to Ordell and Helene Berven.  He began work in radio at age 14 at KISD-Radio, then KSOO, in Sioux Falls, SD.  His career took him to KSTP TV in Minneapolis, MN; WOW Radio and KOIL Radio in Omaha, NE; KSCO and KSUP Radio in Santa Cruz, CA; KBAY in San Jose, CA;  and MAGIC 61 in San Francisco, CA.  He lived in Santa Cruz for many years before returning to Omaha the last 6 years of his life to be near his daughter and granddaughter.

Eddie was a 3rd class audio/radio engineer, a ham radio operator, and fluent in Morse Code.  He was an on-air announcer and voiced many radio and TV commercials throughout his career.

Eddie had a beautiful, low-pitched and melodious broadcasting voice.  He was socially outgoing and had a big heart.  He was a sensitive, witty, charismatic person who gathered people around him wherever he went and was known as a charming character who loved entertaining friends.

Eddie was predeceased by parents Ordell and Helene Berven.  He is survived by one daughter, Christina Berven Pearson, and one granddaughter, Olivia Pearson, of Omaha, NE; three brothers, Gale, David, and Daniel; and two sisters, Connie Berven and Naomi Bandettini of Sioux Falls, SD.

A Gathering of Remembrance with snacks will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 5-8pm, at Interlude Lounge, 7643 Pacific Street, Omaha.
