JIM BRIX

JIM BRIX

1944-02-23 2016-07-11
Jim was born in Sioux Falls, SD on February 23, 1944, welcomed by loving parents Madeline and William "Wild Bill” Brix, and adoring sister Sandy.

He was a graduate of Washington High School in Sioux Falls and earned a degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University. Jim - or Jimbo as he was affectionately called - was a devoted father to Eric and Andrew Brix; uncle to Scott, Mike, and Mark Hembd, and doting grandfather to Adam and Jayden Brix.

Jim, by all accounts, was as unique as they come - the mold was surely broken! His availability to his friends and family was unwavering. His humor and wit made him an engaging and amusing person to be around, and his faith in God and his church was matched only by his faith in the people for whom he cared.

Jim was an inventor of gadgets (and the Whole Ball O' Wax!), sketcher of his limitless imagination, and a skilled craftsman and wood worker. He was an enthusiastic proponent of financial gain for his many professional clients and partners. He was a reader of stories, the spinner of yarns, and a master at the delivery of punchlines. His attributes abound and his finest quality was that his goodness was contagious.

When Jim asked, “How ya doin’?”, he genuinely wanted to know. He did not just ask out of gracious curiosity, it was out of real concern, love, and compassion. And it came from a man with a warm and gentle heart, an open mind, and willing hands to help.

Jim touched so many, in so many wonderful ways. All who survive him are better people for having known him, and will always carry a piece of his charm with them - because that is the kind of man he was. God bless and rest in peace.

All are welcome to attend Jim’s memorial service at 11:30am on Saturday, July, 16th at United Presbyterian Church of Lyndhurst, to be followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that that donations be made to http://www.glorycommunity.org/giving/
