DAVID PARR
1969-11-28I will never forget the day I was walking to class--about 1963. I heard my name called out and looked toward Sheridan Road and saw him leaning over the railing of a delivery truck--waving and yelling at me--telling me he was living in Chicago and--as the light changed and the truck took off--then proceeding to fill in the rest of his recent history, present circumstance and, with his voice fading down the road, his future plans. After first being surprised at seeing him, I laughed and laughed. A memory I will always carry with me; THAT was David Parr.
tribute by Dick KnowlesI can't believe it! I found the picture of us that evening.
tribute by Donna Turley TupperMy first date was with David in 7th grade. We went to a movie doubling with Tony Javurek and Waltraud Schwab. We remained friends through high school. He always had an interesting perspective on life and was so good with his younger siblings. I have always been saddened with the thought of the way he died.
tribute by Donna Turley TupperI met Dave when we were assigned seats next to each other in Mr. Graves' senior comp class 2nd semester of senior year. We talked more than paid attention, I'm afraid, and even dated a few times in the spring. He was filled with a humanitarian spirit and often talked about what he would do to help his fellow man. After graduation he took off for Chicago to make his mark, and I was so shocked to read in the paper that his life had been cut short by a workplace accident.
