DOUG CARSRUD
2023-11-28A wonderful memory of Doug has stayed with me all these years. One day in Keith Morrill's class, Doug hooted for no apparent reason and I was caught visiting with my neighbor (can you imagine such a thing?). We both had to report to Mr. Morrill after school. He sat me down on one side of the room and instructed me to start talking, since it seemed to be something I liked to do, about anything at all. He sat Doug down on the other side of the room and told him to start making strange noises. Doug and I did what he asked, giggling like crazy every time we looked at each other. With Mr. Morrill's wonderful sense of teaching, not punishing, Doug and I both learned lessons that day in the middle of all that silly fun. Doug was a dear, and he is rememberd and missed.
tribute by Carole BrownAfter Doug passed away, there was an item on tv encouraging people to become donors. As Doug's picture was shown, it was mentioned that he had been a donor. Such a tribute to him.
tribute by Cheryl PittengerTo this day, I use Douglas as an example of what can be achieved when one challenges the “dis” in disability. In his own way, he was an impressive figure. RIP, Douglas.
tribute by Dick KnowlesI never knew much about Doug except that he lived over on lst avenue or thereabouts and he always said, "Hi Donna." It appeared to me that he was a rather simple soul....and I've found in life that those simple souls can really touch us.
